Error description

  • While using the DataPower Release 3.8.1, 3.8.2, 4.0.1 or 4.0.2
ODCInfo Servlet, server information cannot be retrieved if it is
    in a down state.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Affected are users of Intelligent Load Distribution with the
    Application Optimization feature.

In firmware versions 3.8.1, 3.8.2, 4.0.1, and 4.0.2, the ODCInfo
application will not display servers that are stopped as was
previously done in 3.8.0. Therefore, if the DataPower
appliance is brought up while the servers on the backend are
stopped, those servers do not show up in the Load Balancer
Status provider. All servers will show up as soon as they
are started. And from that point on, if a server goes
down, or is stopped, it will show correctly in the Load
    Balancer Status provider.

This code change makes servers appear as administratively
disabled, if they are not started, but are configured in the
WebSphere Cluster when the DataPower appliance is first powered
on or configured to show up on the Load Balancer Status
    provider.

Note that if 'application routing' is enabled, a new feature for
3.8.1 and beyond, servers will not show up if they are initially
stopped when the DataPower Appliance is powered on or the
configuration is administratively changed. The servers will
however show up as soon as they are started, and will continue
to show up even if they are taken off-line.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix is available on 3.8.2.11, 4.0.1.8, and 4.0.2.4 via the
    Resource Kit.

The ODCInfo application should be uninstalled
and replaced with the ODCInfo application from the downloaded
    Resource Kit.
