Error description
The installation of the Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 Server does not properly check if the version of Windows is supported or not. The installation of the Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 Administration Center does not properly check if the version of Windows is supported or not. The installation of the Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 and 6.2 Monitoring and Reporting does not properly check if the version of Windows is supported or not. The "prereqcheck" tool introduced in 6.3 will report that the Platform and Version checks are OK even if the version of Windows is not supported for the Server and the Administration Center. It does work as intended with Monitoring and Reporting. Local fix
Use the system requirements provided in the Information Center and on the Tivoli Storage Manager Support page to determine operating system compatibility. http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21064234 If this is only discovered after the installation or upgrade on an unsupported machine, it will be necessary to revert back to the previous version or migrate the server to a supported environment.
