IC80172: EXTEND DBSPACE CAN CREATE DUPLICATE PATH ENTRIES DUE TO DB2 APAR IC78956

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Under some rare conditions it could happen that the extend
dbspace command is hanging. When customer
is canceling the hanging extend dbspace process and rerun the
command later again the new storage path will
be added twice. The hang and the duplicate entry is related to
DB2 APAR IC78956.

Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
A "query dbspace" output will looks like:
/stgpath/dbdir1          104,000.00    103,999.95

/stgpath/dbdir2          104,000.00    103,999.95
0.05

The "select * from dbspace" command on the Tivoli Storage
Manager commandline will fail with:
ANS8001I Return code 4.
