APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the command "onmode -p -n cpu" is used when IDS is under
heavy load
there is a possibility that it causes the server to abend with

    13:52:36  Assert Failed: Orphaned thread

This is the stack trace

    afstack
    afhandler
    afcrash_interface
    terminator
    startup

Before the assertion often there are messages in the message log
saying

    13:52:30 Cannot drop the VP as a thread hard bound to it

These indicate cases where the problem was avoided. It is
advisable not
to try this again without a fix for this defect. The final
message
from ""onmode -p"

    Dynamically dropped 0 cpu VPs

is usually incorrect in this case. Some vps may still have been
dropped.
