Error description

  • My laptop was re-imaged last week and Pcomm (IBM Personal
    Communications) v6.0 was installed. Since then I have had
    trouble making it keep the port I specify for the telnet3270
    definition. I finally traced it down to this. If I start a
    Pcomm session that is set to NOT auto connect, and I select
    'configure' before connecting, Pcomm is putting 23 in the port
    and wiping out what I already had in there. It leaves 23 in
    there even if I cancel out. It only does this if there is
    something in the Host Name field.

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User specified port number is reset to *
    * 23 when opening the Link Parameters *
    *                      panel.                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a Pcomm session is started without Autoconnect and the
    port number is not set to 23 and the user goes to the menu bar
    'Communication' -> 'Configure' -> 'Link parameters', the
    original user's port number setting is changed to 23.

    The port number read from the WS profile is being changed to
    23 when processing the Quick Connect Bar data.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSWS.EXE and PCSTLNET.DLL have been changed to look for a user
    assigned port value before setting the default value of 23 in
    the Link Parameters panel.

    Fix scheduled for PCOM 6.0.4 Refresh Pack
