Error description

  • Upgrading the Tivoli Storage Manager Server from V5 to
    V.6.2.3.0, in "new system,network method" upgrade scenario,
    during the preparedb step, the DSMUPGDX upgrade wizard may fail
    with return code 10.

    The root cause of the problem is that the prepare.out file is
    not created so the dsmupgdx wizard cannot locate it and fails.
    
    
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    When using the wizard to initialize the Tivoli Storage Manager
    server, a trace file is automatically created.
    Examine the trace file called dsmicfgx.trc located in the parent
    directory and look for this error:
    ....com.tivoli.dsm.ServerConfig.ServerDB.parsePrepareOutput():
    exit, rc 10
