IC78873: SERVER INSTALL FAILURE IF HOSTNAME CHANGED BUT HOSTS FILE NOT UPDATED

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the hostname of the server has been changed but the
    /etc/hosts file is not updated, then it is possible that the
    installation of Tivoli Storage Manager Server may fail during
    the deployment engine initialization.
    

Local fix

  • Verify that the /etc/hosts file is updated to reflect any change
    in the hostname

     Verify the following:
    
     Windows:
         - The current user ID is part of the Administrators group
    
     AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris:
         - The current user ID is root
    
     If you are doing a silent installation, ensure that the
     LICENSE_ACCEPTED variable is set to true. This variable can be
     specified either in the command line or in the response file.
    
    New Message:
    
     The installation wizard cannot run on the current
     configuration.  Verify the following:

         - The hostname command output matches the host name
           value in the /etc/hosts file
