Error description

  • Customers with large filespaces defined for use with the TSM
Server database can have their Activity Log flooded with
ANR2992W messages, even though they have very large amounts of
    space available on the filesystem.

    Example output:
ANR2992W The total DB used in DB space is 5,615,362 megabytes,
and the total space available in the DB space is
5,754,762 megabytes. The ratio is 0.98.

The FSUSEDTHRESHOLD option, like the ARCHLOGUSEDTHRESHOLD
option, needs to be documented to let customers know they can
    adjust the threshold, if needed.

Any doc updates should include clear warnings about the impact
making changes to the option could have.

TSM Versions Affected: All 6x Servers on all platforms

      Customer/L2 Diagnostics: N/A

      Initial Impact: Low

Local fix

  • None.

    Internal additional information:
This is similar to the issue seen in APAR IC71005 and resulted
in the undocumented ARCHLOGUSEDTHRESHOLD option that was
introduced in IC67387 being documented in APAR IC71005.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been corrected.

    1. Information for the Administrator's Reference:
The FSUSEDTHRESHOLD specifies the percentage of used space in
the file system where DBSPACE is located.
You can update this server option without stopping and
restarting the server by using the SETOPT command.

    Syntax
    >>-FSUSEDTHreshold--percent-------------------------<>

    Parameters:
    percent
Specifies the value of used space in the database. Set a
value from 0 to 100. The default is 90.

    Example:
    FSUSEDTHreshold 70

    2. Update SETOPT command
    Add FSUSEDTHRESHOLD to option_name list
