IC78070: TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER SERVER MIGHT NOT SEVER CLIENT DEDUP ENABLED BACKUP SESSIONS AFTER A TCP/IP COMMUNICATION PROBLEM

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Tivoli Storage Manager server doesn't time-out the dead sessions
    caused by network communication fault.
    The symptom might be seen if a backup client session has network
    issues (e.g. firewall timeout): even if the client backup ends
    successfully, the affected session may not get automatically
    cancelled
    and stay in Run status indefinitely.
    Problem is only correlated to environment with client
    deduplication in use.

    In the activity log we can see that session #12961 started on
    23:00:25 03.06.2011 and never ended, even if this
    is the session that ended the backup:

    than there is nothing else for this, until customer had to
