IC77272: AIX TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER SERVER INSTALL FAILS DUE TO SYMLINK IN SERVER INSTALL PATH

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The version 6 Tivoli Storage Manager server installation can
fail if there is a symbolic link making part of the server
packages installation path:
  /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/
After the failure there may be an _uninst directory in both
/opt/tivoli/tsm/_uninst  and the path referenced by the
symbolic link.
de_trace.log may contain the following messages:

com.ibm.ac.si.mr.InvalidMediaException: ACUMRI0012E Unable
to locate TSMServerInstallArtifact.xml in the provided
location: /opt/tivoli/tsm/_uninst/plan/install/
MachinePlan_localhost/00001_TSM_Server_1_1/META-INF
Caused by: com.ibm.ac.si.mr.InvalidMediaException: ACUMRI0012E
Unable to locate TSMServerInstallArtifact.xml in the provided

  • Run the install with real directories instead of symbolic links
in the install path.
