IC76877: SELECT QUERY CAUSES AN ERROR -208 OR IDS PANIC

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Strange behavior observed during simple SELECT query execution
  which leads to the situation
  where the session requests more and more additional virtual
  memory segments (ralloc pool grows extremely fast) and
  when all available memory is consumed, IDS throws an error -208
  or
  even more IDS goes down (in some cases with a lot of incomplete
  AF files).
  
  OS: SuSe Linux 10 x86_64 (2.6.31.14)
  the problem isn't reproducible on AIX and Solaris.
  
  IDS 11.50.xC8W3 or 11.70.xC2
  

Local fix

• There is a workaround: use temp tables instead of a view.

Problem conclusion
