Error description

  • A WebSphere MQ V7.0.1.5 JMS application that is using an
asynchronous message listener on an auto-acknowledged session
only processes one message. The message listener receives the
first message published on its topic, but does not receive any
    subsequent messages.

This problem only occurs on WebSphere MQ V7.0.1.4, V7.0.1.5 and
    V7.0.1.6, and not on V7.0.1.3.

Also, only stand-alone JMS applications are affected.
Applications running within an application server, such as
WebSphere Application Server, that take out non-durable
    subscriptions receive messages as expected.

Local fix

  • Make the session transacted, or client-acknowledged (or change
the ConnectionFactory to say SyncpointAllGets = true).

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
    This issue affects users of:

    - The WebSphere MQ V7 classes for JMS

that have applications which connect to a WebSphere MQ V7 queue
manager and take out non-durable subscriptions on a topic.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) +Java
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The WebSphere MQ V7.0.1.4 classes for JMS included some
internal changes that affected the mechanism that the classes
for JMS used to request messages from a WebSphere MQ V7 queue
    manager.

A side effect of these changes was that applications which took
out a non-durable subscription would only ever request one
message from a queue manager. After this message had been
delivered to the application for processing, the classes for
JMS would wait for the queue manager to send additional
messages automatically, without requesting any more to be sent.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere MQ V7 classes for JMS have been updated so that
they request additional messages to be sent by the queue
manager after the first message has been delivered to an
application that has taken out a non-durable subscription.
