IC76077: CLEAN DRIVE COMMAND AGAINST HP DRIVE TAKES A LONG TIME TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Clean drive command against HP tape drive takes long time to
    complete cleaning process.
    Because TSM device driver can'nt get a SCSI sense data as medium
    not present from HP tape drive.
    TSM device driver receives the SCSI sense data as
    0x02, ASC 0x04, ASCQ 0x01.
    This sense data means that the cleaning cartridge was in the
    loading process.
    Therefore this triggers the device driver in an error recover
    action to retry the test unit ready command in a loop.
    
    
    Solaris O/S log displays the following message.

Local fix

  • Please ignore SCSI sense warning message in OS's log file
    and wait for the finish of "clean drive" command execution.
