APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop file is present during
    server startup,
    
    Trying to start the scheduler with
    Execute function task ("scheduler start");
    
    will not start the scheduler even if the
    $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop file is removed.
    
    It gives the message, Successfully started 2 threads but onstat
    -g ath does not show any scheduler threads.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * If a user has created the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop     *
    * file to prevent the dbscheduler from starting at server      *
    * startup and then later removes the file and tries to start   *
    * dbscheduler via the admin api command, the dbscheduler will  *
    * still not start.                                             *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The dbscheduler will not start if the                        *
    * $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop file existed during server    *
    * start up and is later removed so the server can be started   *
    * manually via the sql admin api interface.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade to 11.50.xC9 when available.                         *
    ****************************************************************
    

Problem conclusion

  • This has been addressed in 11.50.xC9 and allows the user to
    start the dbscheduler manually after the stop file is removed
    from $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin.
