Error description
A mount request from a Tivoli Storage Manager library client may fail wit following error: ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume 123456 - mount failed. On the Tivoli Storage Manager library manager the following error will be seen: ANR8484E No drives are available to be mounted in R/O mode with format xxxxx in library LIB01 ANR9790W Request to mount volume 123456 for library client TSMLC1 failed. This will happen if all available drives are in use, and the following is true: 1.) On Library Manager: a.) the drive is online (ONLINE=YES) b.) the path of this drive is offline (ONLINE=NO) - and - 2.) On Library Client: the path of this drive is online (ONLINE=YES) Customer/L2 Diagnostics If we have two drives and the setting is as described from above, we can see from a PVR MMS trace that the Library Manager gets an online drive without the device name. The path associated with this online drive was just updated to offline. Local fix
1. If the drive is operational, update the status of the path from the drive for the library manager to ONLINE=YES 2. If the drive is "defect", update also the drive to status offline (ONLINE=NO) on the library manager
