APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When trying to install IDS 11.50.FC8 in a domain from a machine
    where user "informix" does not exist,
    the installation is stuck in the password complexity window,
    which is displayed time and again, no matter what
    passwords are entered there.
    
    
    This is the end of the install.log:
    .......
    norolesep_createinfxuser 2 - The informix password you entered
    was not accepted. Passwords must comply with security policy.
    Choose a different password.
    norolesep_createinfxuser 2 - The informix password you entered
    was not accepted. Passwords must comply with security policy.
    Choose a different password.
    norolesep_createinfxuser 2 - The informix password you entered

    Choose a different password.
    
    At this point the installation has to be cancelled.
    

Local fix

  • When a local user informix does exist, the domain installation
    works fine.

Problem conclusion

  • Correct the error message and continue,
    The installer fails to create the informix user and is referred
    to documentation.
    
    There is no corrective action that the installer can take at
    this point.  Fixed in IDS 11.50.xC9.
