Error description

  • HSM for Windows reconciliation can erroneously and permanently
delete files on the TSM server. These files can no longer be
recalled. They must be restored from backup copies or, if
    possible, recreated.

A file space might be affected by this problem when all of the
following conditions are met for the corresponding file system:
    1.Reconciliation is configured.
    2.Reconciliation has run.
3.Messages like the following are reported in the
    hsmmonitor.log:
    HSMMONITOR (<PID:TID>) NtfsVolume::scanFiles  <TIME_STAMP>
W: FindFirstFile failed for path: '<PATH>\*' dwError: '3'
    ('ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND').
The <PATH> string does not start with the volume drive letter or
    mount point.
4.The reported number of stub files found in the volume is less
than expected. This number is printed in the hsmmonitor.log file
as part of the 'Reconcile Summary':
<TIME_STAMP> Number of files(stubs, pre 5.4.0 stubs) found in
    the volume: <FILE_NUMBER>(<STUB_NUMBER>, <PRE_NUMBER>)
5.Files are being reported as deleted in the hsmmonitor.log file
as part of the 'Reconcile Summary':
<TIME_STAMP> Number of deleted Objects: <NUMBER>
6.The following error is not reported for this reconcile run in
    the hsmmonitor.log file
    HSMMONITOR (<PID:TID>) DirectoryMap::getParentPath <TIME_STAMP>
E: Populated root FRN <HEX_NUM1> or <HEX_NUM2> is not equal to
expected root FRN 0x0005000000000005 for directory <DIR> on
    volume <DRIVE_LETTER>

    In the conditions above <TIME_STAMP>, <PATH>, <PID:TID>,
    <FILE_NUMBER>, <STUB_NUMBER>, <PRE_NUMBER>, <NUMBER>,
<HEX_NUM1>, <HEX_NUM2> and <DRIVE_LETTER> must be replaced with
values of your system. <PID:TID> stands for process and thread
    identifier, and <FILE_NUMBER>, <STUB_NUMBER> and <PRE_NUMBER>
for number of files, stubs and pre 5.4.0 stubs, respectively.

The hsmmonitor.log is usually located in the logs sub-directory
of the HSM client installation path, like
    C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\hsmclient\logs

The dsmreconconverter might be affected as well if it was
executed and the message described in conditions 3 appeared in
the log file of the dsmreconconverter. In that case the
converter might report successful execution although not all
    files have been converted.

    Recommendation:
Unconfigure reconciliation until you have applied the APAR fix.
After you have applied the fix, configure reconciliation again.
If dsmreconconverter was affected by this problem, run the
converter once again after you have applied the APAR fix.

    Affected Products:
Tivoli Storage Manager HSM for Windows versions 5.5.3.0, 6.1.4.0
    and 6.1.4.1 (inclusive)
