APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The activity log and SAN Discovery are initialized in two
    separate threads. A timing window exists such that the SAN
    Discovery thread may initialize before the activity log is
    ready to log the ANR1794W message.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    Review the server activity log for timestamps of the ANR1794W
    message. For example :
    
    10:47:08  ANR1794W (session: XX, origin: AIX_STA)  TSM
              SAN discovery is disabled by options. (SESSION: XX)
    11:13:45  ANR1794W (session: XX, origin: AIX_STA)  TSM
              SAN discovery is disabled by options. (SESSION: XX)
    
    A storage agent trace (NACONFIG) will show when the ANR1794W
    message should have been logged. For example:
    
    10:47:08.815 [6][psdiscvr.c][310][psSanDiscovery]:SANDISCOVERY
    is set to OFF.
    10:50:35.857 [6][psdiscvr.c][310][psSanDiscovery]:SANDISCOVERY
    is set to OFF.
    11:09:03.684 [6][psdiscvr.c][310][psSanDiscovery]:SANDISCOVERY
    is set to OFF.
    11:13:45.157 [6][psdiscvr.c][310][psSanDiscovery]:SANDISCOVERY
    is set to OFF.
    
    In this above example, the ANR1794W message should have been
    logged at timestamps 10:50:35 and 11:09:03 but was not.
    
    
    TSM Versions Affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager V5.4, v5.5, v6.1 and v6.2 on all
    supported platforms.
