Error description

  • A data movement operation (i.e. reclamation) within an
    active-data (ADP) deduplicated (dedup) storage pool may
    fail with one of the following messages:
    .
      ANR1161W The move process is skipping a damaged file on volume
    .
      ANR1162W Space reclamation skipping damaged file on volume
    .
    This problem may also occur when running IDENTIFY
    DUPLICATES.

    This can only occur if the data resides in another deduplicated
    storage pool and has been "identified" for deduplication prior
    to the data being copied to the Active-Data storage pool.
    .
    The corruption can only affect the data within the ADP storage
    pool. All other copies of the file(s) will be unaffected.
    .
    The following DB2 SQL statement can be used to determine if any
    objects have been affected in an active-data storage pool:
    .
    1) Obtain the active-data storage pool id with the following
    statement:
    .
    db2 "select poolid from ss_pools where poolname='<ACTIVE-DATA
    POOL NAME>'"
    .
    2) Use that pool id, issue the following statement to see if
    objects are affected by this APAR.
    This will be the case, if the result comes back with "count>0"
    .
    db2 "select count(be.bfid) from bf_bitfile_extents as be left
    join bf_bitfile_extents as be2 on
    (be.srvid=be2.srvid and be.linkbfid=be2.bfid and
    be.poolid=be2.poolid) left join bf_aggregated_bitfiles
    as bf on (bf.srvid=be2.srvid and bf.bfid=be.bfid and
    bf.superbfid=be2.superbfid and bf.length=0)
    where be.srvid=0 and be.bfid!=9223372036854775807 and
    <active-data pool id>"
    .
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:
    Tivoli Storage Manager server 6.2 on all platforms
    .
    Initial Impact:
    medium
    .
    Additional Keywords:
    zz62 TSM ADP dedup

Local fix

  • Ensure that the data being copied to the active-data storage
    pool has not been identified for deduplication.
