APAR status

Error description

  • The TSM server management console (MMC) initialization wizard
    will fail to initialize the tsmdb1 database in DB2 due to new
    security settings implemented in DB2 v9.7. The wizard will
    utilize the local system account by default when installing the
    TSM server service on Windows.  By default DB2 v9.7 does not
    allow the local system account to access the database.
    This will generate a pop-up error ANRU1008E in the server wizard
    with the following message:
    "Timed out attempt to issue a command to the server. You can
    adjust the timeout value under the Settings menu item."
    The MMC needs to be changed not to use the local system account
    by default, or warn the user that additional steps need to be
    taken in DB2 to initialize the database.

Local fix

  • Use the dsmicfgx.exe to install a new TSM server instance or
    specify a different user with sufficient privileges to DB2 in
    the initialization wizard. If no user exists, then the steps in
    the following DCF can be used to grant a user authority:
