Error description

  • If an instance is brought up with file
$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop in place so that scheduler
threads do not start immediately you cannot start the threads
later. It would seem that if the stop file is removed while the
engine continues to be online, the removal of the stop file
should permit the subequent starting of the scheduler threads.
Running $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/start.sql by way of dbaccess
seems to cause the threads to start. However, it does not start
threads. Once you exit dbaccess, the dbscheduler threads do not
    exist.

Either the script should test to make sure the threads have
started, or a message should indicate that the threads cannot be
    started.

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed in IDS 11.50.xC9. If the engine is brought online with a
'$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop' file, the scheduler threads do
not get created. If the 'stop' file is removed, and
    $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/start.sql is run, the scheduler
    threads will start immediately.
