APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A single CDRNs thread does not run efficiently when ER
encryption is turned on and
multiple crypto VPs are running.

The provided reproduction will show the CDRNs thread bounces
back and forth from
a ready state waiting to run on 1crypto to a running state
usually on 4crypto for well
over an hour when 4 crypto VPs are defined.

During this time, you can usually catch the CDRNs thread in
ready with the following stack:

yield_processor_mvp
mt_yield
mt_bind_class
CryptoBind
CryptoEncrypt
nifiSendBuf
nifStdSend
nifSend
nifGenericAccept
cdraccept
listen_verify
spawn_thread
startup

Local fix

  • If you use "onmode -p -1 crypto" to drop crypto VPs such that
only one remains before the
CDRNs thread starts or while it was running, it will finish its
work in less than 2 minutes versus
the ~1.5 hours that it will take to encrypt and send otherwise.
