IC71632: AN INSTALLATION PROCESS OF TSM DEVICE DRIVER 6.1.X FAILS ONLY IF WINDOWS O/S IS 64 BIT AND OLD STORAGEAGENT 6.1 IS NOT REMOVED.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An installation process of tsm device driver 6.1.X fails
  only if windows O/S is 64 bit and old storageagent 6.1 is not
  removed.
  This will only occur when upgrading the storage agent or device
  driver on a 64 bit Windows system.
  The issue is that the first installation registered the
  installation location as
  "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM".
  But the storage agent is a 32 bit program and the storage agent
  registered the installation location as
  "C:\Program Files (x86)\tivoli\TSM" in the windows registry.
  Therefore  the Deployment Engine shows the installation path as
  C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM
  but the Windows Registry shows the installation path as
  C:\Program Files (x86)\tivoli\TSM.
  This causes the installation failure with the device driver.

Local fix

• The workaround is to change the following registry key to point
  to the 64 bit program's directory:
  
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\ADSM\CurrentVersion
  
     Current:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Tivoli\TSM\
     New:       C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\
