IC70629: ANR8779E ERROR SEEN ON THE TSM SERVER IN SOME CASES WHEN USING TSM PASS THRU DEVICE DRIVER WITH SAS AND ISCSI CONTROLLERS

Error description

• In specific cases the TSM pass thru device driver will fail when
  issuing an IOCTL command to a tape drive through a SAS or iSCSI
  host bus adapter. The following error will be displayed in the
  TSM server window:
  ANR8779E Unable to open drive mtx.x.x.x, error number=1117
  .
  The following error is seen in a device driver trace:
  IOCTL_SCSI_PASS_THROUGH_DIRECT failed, rc = 87
  ...
  MODE SELECT I/O failed, rc 1117
  .
  The Windows return code 87 translates to "The parameter is
  incorrect."
  .
  This is an issue with the pass thru driver communicating with
  specific HBA card drivers running with Microsoft storport
  miniport drivers to communicate to the Tape device.

Local fix

• None. Use an earlier version of the TSM server (pre-62) which
  installs the legacy TSM device driveruntil a patch for this
