Error description

  • If print specific japanese characters in non-Java mode and
HCP 939/930, they are printed in old style though they are
displayed in the new(simplified) style on display session.
The characters are 0x88a0 0x898b 0x89a8 etc .. in SJIS.
This symptom occurs on both screen print and host print.
It does not occur in Java mode nor in HCP1399/1390 and non-Java
    mode.
These pairs of old and new characters were subsumed
in old JIS (JIS78). it means that a pair of characters had
    the same code point.
Then they were redefined in new JIS and each one was given
    the independent code point.
The ones of the new (simplified) style were taken over
    the original code points.
    .
User expects that these characters are printed as displayed.

Local fix

  • Use Java-mode print or use HCP 1399

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Japanese Host On-Demand clients *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When client is configured for non-Java *
    * mode print screen, the results are *
    * different from the host screen. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When user printed ITAIJI characters, the printed results were
different than the actual host screen. The rendering of ITAIJI
characters is hardcoded, but it only processed display screens,
    not print screens.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was modified to process print screens for ITAIJI
    characters.

Fix is scheduled to be in HOD 11.0.3.0 Refresh Pack.

Temporary fix
