IC70273: SLOW TIVOLI STORAGE MANAGER SERVER START/STOP WITH LARGE DISK STORAGE POOLS

APAR status

• Closed as duplicate of another APAR.

Error description

• The Tivoli Storage Manager Server might encounter slow server
  starts/stops when very large disk storage pools are configured.
  To verify if you are facing the symptom reported with this APAR,
  review the output of the following DB2 command:
  db2 connect to tsmdb1
  db2 reorgchk update statistics on table tsmdb1.bv_supernode
  
  Review the table statistics and the index statistics and verify
  if reorg is recommended for either the table and/or an index.
  This is indicated by one or more asterisks in the output reorg
  column.

Local fix

• if a reorg is recommended for either the bv_supernode table or
  it's indexes, from the DB2 command prompt submit the following
  commands after the Tivoli Storage Manager server was stopped:
  - reorg table TSMDB1.BV_SUPERNODE  ALLOW NO ACCESS
    This command will reorganize the TSMDB1.BV_SUPERNODE table and
    all of its indexes.
  - runstats on table TSMDB1.BV_SUPERNODE and indexes all
    It is recommended to use the RUNSTATS utility after a REORG of
    a table
  - db2rbind
    The REBIND utility is recommended after doing REORG or
    RUNSTATS.
  
  Once completed, you can start the Tivoli Storage Manager server
  again.
