IC69705: REBUILDING SYSMASTER DATABASE IS HUNG WHEN MIGRATING FROM 11.50.FC6 TO 11.50.FC7

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When migrating from 11.50.xC6 to 11.50.xC7, Rebuilding the
  sysmaster database may hang or fail to convert successfully,
  because conversion process is trying to run "database sysmaster
  exclusive" but dbScheduler thread is already holding a "shared
  lock" against the sysysmaster database.
  
  This problem causes SCHAPI  error in online.log as follows:

Local fix

• Workaround is to stop the scheduler for some time during
  conversion by creating an empty file named stop in
  $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin dir. Example:
  touch $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop
  
  Make sure that you remove the stop file after sysmaster is
  build. Bounce the server after removing the stop file. Example:
  rm $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysadmin/stop
