Error description

• In Tivoli Storage Manager 6.X, it is possible to configure the
  database backup, and run a successful database backup using a
  registered client node that deviates from the special node name
  of $$_TSMDBMGR_$$, as documented in the Tivoli Storage Manager
  Infocenter documentation. After a database backup completes
  successfully using an unsupported nodename, a query of the
  volume history will report the database backup volume type as
  STGNEW. The Tivoli Storage Manager, should report an error and
  not allow a successful database backup to run unless the node
  name specified in the API dsm.sys file is defined as
  "nodename $$_TSMDBMGR_$$".

Local fix

• Correct the API dsm.sys to use the correct nodename
  $$_TSMDBMGR_$$.
  The API dsm.sys can be found in the following locations:

        operating systems /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64/dsm.sys
  Make sure the configuration is correct by reading the section in
  the TSM Info Center titled:
  "Preparing the database manager for backup"
