Error description

  • Tivoli Storage Manager servers at level 6.2.0 that are
library managers can crash under these conditions:
o Library clients are at a level lower than 6.2.0
o Library clients are using MOVE DRMEDIA
o The tape library is SCSI or 349x, but not ACSLS
Library clients which are also at level 6.2.0 will not
cause the library manager to crash.
The last message logged to the library manager's activity
    log might be this:
ANR8438I CHECKOUT LIBVOLUME for volume 123456L4 in library
    LIBRARY completed successfully.
    Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected:

Local fix

  • Do not issue the MOVE DRMEDIA command with the REMOVE=YES
option. Using CHECKOUT LIBV and MOVE DRMEDIA with REMOVE=NO
might provide equivalent function until a fix is available.
    -
Upgrade library clients to 6.2.0; the problem does not
occur with 6.2.0 or higher library clients.
