Error description

• Running a distributed query from IDS which  involves external
  table residing on XPS instance gives  assert fails with the
  following stack.

Local fix

Problem summary

  * All users on AIX/Solaris platforms could encounter the       *
  * crash. Users in Linux platform could see the incorrect error *
  * message 1213.                                                *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  * A query with the built-in function SUBSTR() crashes the      *
  * server in AIX/Solaris (returns 1213 error in Linux) if the   *
  * first argument is a decimal number instead of a string.      *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  * Upgrade to 11.50.xC7.                                        *
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Protect a structure from being modified while in use.  Fix is
  in11.50.FC7W1.
