Error description

  • Running PCOM 5.9.6 3270 sessions on 2 PCs results in the
    sessions hanging. The user can not close using the X button
    or File-Exit. Only Task Manager can force the sessions down
    or the user can reboot the PC to recover.

    This does not happen with PCOM 5.9.5 or earlier, just 5.9.6
    level.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When multiple sessions are started and one by one they are
    closed, the last few sessions freeze and will not respond to
    any window functions.

Problem conclusion

  • Shared memory for emulation was creating two threads for debug
    purposes. In certain environment where PCOMM's shared memory
    emulation is used by non-PCOMM processes, these threads can
    lead to a hang in PCOMM sessions. PCSWLIB.DLL has been changed
    to no longer create these threads.
