    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * Users using a Remote Secondary Server (RSS) node in a *
    * cluster environment may periodically see the following *
    * message in the message log of the primary server *
    *                                                              *
    * 08:02:36 RSS rss1_tcp is not acknowledging log transmission *
    *                                                              *
    * 08:02:36  RSS rss1_tcp resumed acknowledging log             *
    * transmission                                                 *
    *                                                              *
    * and receive an alarm at the primary server even if the RSS *
    * node is operating correctly. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Ignore the message and alarm and use other means (such as *
    * onstat) to determine the health of the RSS node. Upgrade to *
    * 11.50.xC7 and above.                                         *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Problem first fixed in 11.50.xC7. The message and alarm can be
    raised in error if a large amount of in-flight, unacknowledged
    data exists between the primary and RSS server.

Temporary fix

  • The message and alarm can be ignored. Use other means (for
    example, onstat) to determine whether the receiver is
    acknowledging log transmission or not.
