IC65441: ANR1229W VOLUME <VOLNAME> CANNOT BE BACKED UP TO A COPY STORAGE POOL.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • A storage pool backup process issues the ANR1229W message for
    pending volumes that have no data to process. For example :
    
    ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN issued command:
     BACKUP STGPOOL PRIMPOOL COPYPOOL
    ANR1229W Volume ABC123L4 cannot be backed up to a copy
     storage pool or copied to an active-data storage pool.
     The volume is offline, in use by another process, not
     currently mountable, or access mode is "unavailable" or
     "destroyed".
    ANR2111W BACKUP STGPOOL: There is no data to process for
     PRIMPOOL.
    
    The TSM server should not issue the ANR1229W message under
    these circumstances.
    
    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    Use the QUERY VOLUME <volname> F=D to verify the access and
    status of the volume. In this example, the volume shows
    a Pending status and access destroyed. For example :
    
    QUERY VOLUME ABC123L4 F=D
                     Volume Name: ABC123L4
               Storage Pool Name: PRIMPOOL
                             ...
                   Volume Status: Pending
                          Access: Destroyed
    
    Use the QUERY STGPOOL F=D command to verify the reuse delay
    period. In this example, the ABC123L4 volume is a volume that is
    pending because it was restored from copy pool and the primary
    storage pool has a reuse delay period of 3 days. For example :
    
    QUERY STG PRIMPOOL F=D
                   Storage Pool Name: PRIMPOOL
                   Storage Pool Type: Primary
                                 ...
       Delay Period for Volume Reuse: 3 Day(s)
    
    TSM Versions Affected:
    TSM Servers V5.4, V5.5 and V6.1 on all platforms.
    
    Additional Keywords:
    zz61 backup stg

  • The message may be ignored under the mentioned circumstances.
