IC64963: SERVER INSTALLATION FAILURE DUE TO DEPLOYMENT ENGINE PROBLEM

Error description

• Tivoli Storage Manager server fails to install with no clear
  error at the screen.
  The problem occurs during DB2 part of the installation because
  DE fails to perform inventory due to escape characters '&'
  found in the serial number of a disk partition.

  ACUOSI0058E Collector name sdcollector version 1.2.2 failed with
  the following error:
  java.lang.RuntimeException: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:
  The entity name must immediately follow the '&' in the entity
  reference.
  
  
  To verify if you are impacted, run the following command =>
  
   C:\Program Files\IBM\Common\acsi\bin\wscanhw.cmd > wscanhw.txt
    or on unix
  /usr/ibm/common/acsi/bin/wscanhw >  wscanhw.txt
  
  Check in the wscanhw.txt if you found a disk partition with a
  "&" character in it's serial number .
  If you found one, you are impacted by the problem.

Local fix

• - Detach the impacted disk partition from the system.
  - Install the server
  - Re-attach the disk partition.
