Error description
Update node activity can lead to a deletion and re-insertion of the given node definition. If client backup process is occurring when this update node activity is processing a very small timing window exists where the node definition may not exist when the backup needs it to find the client options set. If this should occur the client will not receive the options defined for it on the server through this options set. Not receiving the client option set may lead to the client incorrectly processing the object it is working with. In the case of the reporting incident the include list with a management class specification was not being received by the client. This caused a backup object to be incorrectly bound to the wrong or unexpected management class. This can have retention and storage pool destination ramifications. Tivoli Storage Manager Versions Affected: 5.4, 5.5, 6.1 Customer/L2 Diagnostics (If Applicable) In a failing case a server ADMIN trace will show that an option is not found: Option set not found trace points: ---------------------------------------------------------------- [1328][admclqry.c][161]: Entry for admOpenOptSetQuery. Local fix
Avoid performing any activity that would update any node attributes while a backup of that node is running.
