Error description

  • When using the default shmbase address for a Win32 server and
    setting GL_USEGLU in the evnironment where the instance is
    started, onstat will fail with a mapViewFileOfEx error:

    C:\Windows\system32>onstat -
    MapViewOfFileEx: w32ec=487 at nt_shm.c:767
    12:07:28 shmat: [22]: operating system error
    12:07:28 Client could not attach server shared memory segment,
    use IFX_XFER_SHM
    BASE.
    onstat: Cannot attach to shared memory. errno = 22

    This is because the 32-glu34.dll is loaded at 0x1000000.
    Changing the shared memory base address to a value bigger than
    0x1000000 + size resolves this problem.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * When the ICU is loaded by way of GL_USEGLU being set in the *
    * environment, and the SHMBASE setting in the ONCONFIG file is *
    * set to its default value, the onstat utility will display an *
    * error message when it attempts to establish a connection to *
    * the server. This occurs because the memory space used by the *
    * ICU DLL is overlapping with the shared memory segment. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Upgrade to IDS version 11.50.xC6 and above. *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Starting with IDS 11.50.xC6, the ICU DLL will be loaded with a

    different base address on Windows.
