IC62401: CLEANING TAPE IS NOT EJECTED FROM THE DRIVE AFTER CLEAN DRIVE COMMAND.

APAR status

Error description

  • When clean drive command is executed, the process itself is
    completed successfully. But the cleaning tape volume is not
    ejected from the tape drive.

    This asc/ascq combination means that ADSM_LB_CLEANER_INSTALLED.
    And so when ds_lb_set_abnormal_state() is called
    the abnormal state is initialized to 0x8000000 which is
    ADSM_LB_INVALID_INFO.
    TSM device driver should report ASC/ASC sense data 0x30/0x03
    as ADSM_LB_CLEANER_INSTALLED to TSM Server.
    
    
    TSM Versions Affected:
    TSM 5.5 server which uses the tape library managed by tsm device
    driver.
    
    Initial Impact: Low
    
    Additional Keywords: clean tape volume remained media
    

Local fix

  • Eject the cleaning tape from the drive by hand.
