IC62365: CONFIGURATION WIZARD CREATED INITTAB ENTRY INCORRECT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When configuring the Tivoli Storage Manager server by using the
  configuration wizard (dsmicfgx.exe), following entry is added in
  /etc/inittab.
  
  1. Starting the server from the user ID that owns the server
  instance
  tsm1:2:once:/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.dsmserv -u tsminst1 -i
  /home/tsminst1/tsminst1 -q >/dev/console 2>&1
  
  2. Starting the server from the root user ID
  tsm1:2:once:/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.dsmserv -U tsminst1 -i
  /home/tsminst1/tsminst1 -q >/dev/console 2>&1
  
  If dsmserv is started by above entry, the problem reported in
  IC62360 may occur. It requires the trailing &.  For example:
  
  1. Starting the server from the user ID that owns the server
  instance
  tsm1:5:once:/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.dsmserv -u tsminst1 -i
  /home/tsminst1/tsminst1 -q >/dev/console 2>&1&
  
  2. Starting the server from the root user ID
  tsm1:5:once:/opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.dsmserv -U tsminst1 -i
  /home/tsminst1/tsminst1 -q >/dev/console 2>&1&

Problem conclusion

• This problem was fixed. The inittab entry was updated to
  include the trailing "&" and runlevels 2, 3, and 5.
