IC61208: TSM 6.1 WINDOWS UPGRADE AND CONFIGURATION WIZARDS FAIL WHEN USING DOMAIN USER/LOGIN.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the TSM 6.1 upgrade or configuration wizard is run on Windows
    by a user logged in with a domain login the wizard will fail.
    This wizard failure will occur even if the domain user belongs
    to a group with local admin authority.
    .
    In the case of the upgrade wizard the message "Cannot Determine
    Administrator Rights' pops up after selecting 'Next' on the
    first window of the wizard. This message pop up indicates
    further problems may result but allows the wizard to proceed to
    the next page after 'ok' is selected.
    The message "Upgrade Utility is Not Installed" pops up after
    selecting 'Next' on the second window of the upgrade wizard.
    At this point the wizard will not move on to the next step.

    Also when trying to run dsmicfgx.exe on a box that is part of a
    domain, this will fail with the following reported in the
    dsmicfgx.trc:

Local fix

  • Log in with a user defined on the local system with
    administrator authority when running the TSM 6.1 configuration
    or upgrade wizard.
