IC60600: NAS OPERATION INITIATED FROM A LIBRARY MANAGER MAY FAIL WHEN USING A SHARED DRIVE

Error description

  • In some situations, when a TSM library manager server detects
    an error on a tape drive, the library manager may set a drive
    path offline instead of setting the drive offline. This is to
    prevent any library clients from using the drive. However, since
    NAS operations do not use the path originating from the
    library manager, this does not prevent the drive from being
    selected for a NAS backup or restore to a locally attached
    (not NDMP filer-to-server) device.

    Therefore, if the drive is also shared with a NAS datamover, the
    library manager may still select the drive for use during a
    NAS operation, and in this case the operation using the drive
    will fail instead of using another drive. If the drive was set
    offline by the TSM server, the datamover would not attempt to
    use the drive.

    ANR8965W  The server is unable to automatically determine the
