Error description

  • When using IBM Content Collector to archive documents into an
IBM FileNet P8 repository and there are many duplicate
documents, the response time of the FileNet P8 server might be
slow. Errors similar to the following are logged in the FileNet
    P8 Connector log file:

2014-02-04T21:52:16Z Warning Not able to delete
annotations, index may have redundant entries.
    E_TRANSACTION_FAILURE : A transaction problem has
occurred.Reason: A transaction problem has occurred.

Problem summary

  • When IBM Content Collector collects duplicate email, it creates
temporary annotation objects. After these annotations are
processed, they are deleted by the maintenance task. The batched
deletion of processed annotations happens every 30 seconds. In
some cases, too many processed annotations might be added to the
deletion batch before the server operation is called. Such
oversized batches are not optimal for batching operations
performed on the FileNet P8 server and might result in a
significant delay in server response times, and sometimes
    timeouts.

Problem conclusion

  • Starting with IBM Content Collector 3.0 Fix Pack 5 and 4.0 Fix
Pack 2, processed annotations are deleted every 30 seconds
or if there are more than 200 annotations to be deleted,
so that the batch size does not get too large.
