Abstract
DS8880 command hang leads to temporary loss of access

With DS8880 R8.3 (88.3x.x.x) and later code streams, running in a z/OS environment with Global Mirror, and at DFSMS HDZ2210 or higher with OA52080 applied; the DS8880 could experience a temporary hang of I/O on the Primary until an automated warmstart clears the condition. If the condition occurs, the host could report the following messages: IOS071I Start pending, IOS450E path taken offline.
Fix and Mitigation
Apply APAR OA55379 to prevent this condition.

Exposed microcode levels
