V7.8.1 contains significant improvements that deliver more than twice the system availability and greatly reduces the risk of node warmstarts compared with previous releases.
IBM is committed to delivering continual quality improvements in our products.
Significant updates were introduced in V7.8.1 focusing on increasing overall reliability, resulting in a doubling of system availability and halving of node warmstart events.
IBM strongly recommends that any systems running less than minimum levels should be upgraded to the latest available V7.8.1 PTF at their earliest convenience. Minimum levels information can be obtained from the following page:

As of April 2018, more than 40% of the SVC and Storwize field population are running V7.8.1 or higher levels, giving these levels an extremely large amount of proven field runtime.
Call Home
IBM recommends that all systems are configured with Call Home, found in the Settings > Notifications menu in the system GUI.
Call Home significantly reduces the resolution time of problem tickets (PMRs) by automatically engaging IBM Support in the event of a system issue.
