Security Bulletin

Summary

PowerKVM is affected by two vulnerabilities in libvirt. These vulnerabilities are now fixed.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2015-5313
DESCRIPTION:
libvirt could allow a local attacker to traverse directories on the system, caused by an error in the virStorageBackendFileSystemVolCreate function within storage/storage_backend_fs.c when fine-grained Access Control Lists (ACL) are enabled. An attacker could use "virsh vol-create-as" command with "dot dot" sequences (/../) in the volume name to create arbitrary files on the system.

CVEID: CVE-2016-5008
DESCRIPTION:
Libvirt could allow a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by the failure to properly disable password checking when the password on a VNC server is set to an empty string. By connecting to the server, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to bypass authentication and establish a VNC session.
