APAR status

  • Closed as unreproducible in next release.

Error description

  • For Ethernet VSwitches, support is added to collect and report
IPv6 addresses on Query Vswitch, Query Virtual NIC, and DIAG 26C

As IPv6 usage becomes more prevalent, this information will be
more important for diagnostics. In addition, the VSwitch Unicast
IP table structure will be changed from a linked list to a hash
    table.

For Layer 2 VSwitches, support is needed to display IPv6
addresses on Query Vswitch, Query Virtual NIC, and DIAG 26C.

Comments

  • z/VM VSwitch support is enhanced to observe ICMPv6 messages
for Layer 2 VSwitch guests, and retain the IPv6 addresses. The
IPv6 addresses will be displayed on the Query VSwitch and Query
Virtual NIC commands, and returned in the DIAG 26C subcode x'24'
    data.
In addition, the LAN IP table (used to determine the destination
of a packet during data transfer) has been changed from a
circular linked list to a hash table for improved efficiency.
