Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: IBM HTTP Server users on z/OS serving files *
    * that are already in ASCII and don't need to be translated to *
    * EBCDIC, and who also need to use mod_autoindex to view *
    * directory contents.                                          *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Cannot configure mod_charset_lite to *
    * translate the output from mod_autoindex without also *
    * translating files.                                           *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this fix on z/OS if mod_autoindex *
    * output needs to be translated from EBCDIC to ASCII, but not *
    * files.                                                       *

Problem conclusion

  • A new directive, CharsetAutoindex, was added that optionally
    allows controlling translation of mod_autoindex output
    independently of file translation. This applies to z/OS only,
    for 6.1.0.25 and 7.0.0.5 and later.

    Additionally, the keywords Charset and Type for the IndexOptions
    directive of mod_autoindex were backported to IHS 6.0.2.35
    and IHS 6.1.0.25. This applies to those releases on all
    platforms. The keywords were already supported on IHS 7.0.
    This was required to allow setting the proper charset in
    the Content-Type header after translating the mod_autoindex
    output.

    This fix is targeted for IHS fixpacks:
     6.0.2.35
     6.1.0.25
     7.0.0.5
