APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The -v option for rotatelogs causes verbose output to be
  written to the error log.  An abend0C4 happens trying to print
  out Post-rotation prog.

Local fix

• do not use the -v option for rotatelogs
  

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED:  Users of IBM HTTP Server on z/OS            *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Using the -v option for rotatelogs      *
  *                      causes rotatelogs to crash on z/OS.     *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:  Remove the -v option. If it is necessary,   *
  *                  a dummy program can be provided for the -p  *
  *                  option.                                     *
  ****************************************************************
  Using the -v option for rotatelogs without specifying -p will
  cause rotatelogs to print a null value which results in
  undefined behavior. On z/OS, this causes rotatelogs end
  abnormally with an abend0C4.
  

Problem conclusion

• rotatelogs was updated to handle null values when the -v option
  is specified but the -p option is not.
  
  The fix for this issue is targeted for IHS fixpacks:
  - 9.0.0.4
