Error description

• Using install_ihs to configure an instance of IBM HTTP Server
  on a z/OS system fails with an ABEND0C1 when running with Z890
  (or earlier) hardware.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Running install_ihs on older z/OS       *
  *                      hardware results in ABEND0C1.           *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:  Apply this fix if using IHS with Z890 (or   *
  *                  earlier) hardware.                          *
  ****************************************************************
  The ABEND0C1 occurance when running install_ihs on older z/OS
  hardware was because the Apache server was compiled with
  ARCH(7) and this generated instructions that cannot be run
  with Z890 hardware.
  

Problem conclusion

• ARCH(5) (z890 and earlier) support was restored for IBM HTTP
  Server binaries.
  The build was updated to explicitly specify -qarch 5 and
  -qtune 7 which were the compiler defaults at the time of IHS
  7.0 GA.
  A build defect causes updated compiler defaults to be used
  throughout the life of V7.
  
  This fix is targeted for fix packs:
  - 7.0.0.39
  - 8.0.0.11
  - 8.5.5.6
