APAR status

Error description

  • Segments created by the checkpoint/restart support framework of
the filesystems is not deleted even after the process that
was checkpointed exits. This is difficult to detect as there
is no visible symptom such as crash or hang.

The memory leaked by these segments is usually small (a couple
of real page-frames). Therefore this may be visible as a
memory leak only if a very large number of processes were
checkpointed and then exited as zombies before being
    restarted.

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • Process exit path now deletes the checkpoint/restart segments
for the filesystems when a process transitions to the zombie
    state. Affect bos.mp64.
