APAR status

Error description

  • If commands are timing out to a Fibre Channel Storage device,
    then Fibre Channel drivers may use Target Reset to bring
    back the device.  Many newer storage devices support LUN Reset,
    which would only affect that one LUN instead all LUN's under
    the target.  Using Target Reset may result in more errors seen
    on FC Fabric after command time outs.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • If commands are timing out to a Fibre Channel Storage device,

Problem conclusion

  • Request FC Protocol Device Driver use LUN Reset for recovering
    device instead of Target Reset.
